Below is the list of guns Accurate just sent to me that are compatible with Blackhorn 209 powder without modifications to the breech plug. I am not affiliated with Accurate in any way. I just love this powder.

"Jim,

Thank you for the e-mail. Here is a list of guns that work with BH209.

Thompson Center
Encore ? all models with the speed breech and older style omega breech plugs
Triumph ? all models
Omega ? all models
Impact

Traditions
Vortek - all models with the accelerator breech plug
Pursuit - all models with the accelerator and A1446 or A1445 breech plug
Bulkstalker

Knight Rifles
Disk Extreme and Elite (with the Lehigh Bullets conversion breech plug)
http://www.lehighbullets.com/products.asp?cat=28

CVA
(AC1678A breech plugs only)
Optima
Kodiak
Wolf
Models with the new quick release breech plug are not reliable. Contact Ron Laughlin ronlaughlin@rchs61.org for a breech plug that will work.

I hope this helps. By far the best guns for BH209 are produced by T/C. The older Encore will work with the newer Omega breech plug installed. We have only seen one older style breech plug for this model that seemed to be geared towards pellets.

Best regards,
Don"

I thought it was a black powder substitute. Was there some problem with it being shot in some guns? I don't shoot a muzzle loader anymore but this is what I was shooting when I quit. It was the best I ever shot as far as consistency, non-fouling and clean up. My son shoots it in his ML now. He has a TC Encore.

Some breech plugs experience misfires and or hangfires with it. Most can be remedied to shoot it though.

Most BP's carry it, most Cabela's, Powder Valley is as cheap as I can find it, some Ganders carry it. The Gander in Hattiesburg doesn't carry it but told me they would have some shipped to them from one of their other stores when I wanted them to. I think if enough people wanted it Academy would start stocking it.

That is how I clean mine. Run a couple of patches saturated with Hoppes #9 through it, couple of dry patches and I'm done.

I have the CVA accura Version 1 (non quick breach) use trip 7 powder, I have been wanting to try this stuff but I still have a lot of powder to go through. I don't know why my gun is not on that list. Its basically an optima.

I can give you a forum URL that has guys on it that can tell you if your Accura will shoot it and what you need to do if it won't. Or you can go to the Blackhorn 209 website and they will tell you what you need to do also. It is all about the breech plug system. Blackhorn 209 takes a really hot ignition to ignite it and a few breech plug designs will not deliver a hot enough ignition to ignite it but the ones that won't can be made to.
