Caliber of choice?
 

While I shoot several different rifles/calibers during Whitetail season in Mississippi, I was wondering what your caliber of choice is? I shoot 260, 7RM, 308 and 300WM but if I only had one choice it would be the 7RM. What’s yours? BTW I shoot Barnes TTS or TTSX in all four.

My choice is a .280. Have been shooting Remington 140 PSP-CLs because they shoot so well in my X-Bolt, but will take a look at the Federal 140 Trophy Copper and Hornady 150 ELD-X this fall.

3006, out of a Winchester Ranger. I’ve used a .280 out of a TC Encore that was great on deer, just not economical to shoot.

When I carry one it’s a .308...Ruger American

I don’t have a caliber of choice, per se. I do believe any rifle called a magnum is more than most people need or can shoot properly. Not saying they don’t have their place or I don’t own any, but we are talking whitetails. My calibers of choice in some what of an order are 7mm08, .270win, .30-06, .30-30. Personally, I’m more attached to the individual rifles themselves than the rounds they are chambered for.

That's two of us with good taste! lol ... Another vote for .280 here. Given they group well in your rifle, you'll be pleased with the performance from the Federal Trophy Copper. I've been shooting them in both of my A-Bolt's for a few years now and they are tough on deer and hogs. Just put it on the shoulder and collect your prize. [cool]

All other things being equal, when I head to the stand, I carry a .280, and my daughter carries a 7mm-.08.

Of course everything ain't always equal, so sometimes I grab a .30-30 or .300 SAUM.

30-30 lever gun with Remington Green box 170gr PSP. Kills every time for 40 years.

Anything at least .30 cal with 150 gr pptspt thats travels at or above 3000fps. Stackem up.
