Default GPS Tracking Collar Recommendations

I've got a new dog that seems to have a knack for tracking shot deer but she is silent on the trail and only wants to work off a leash. I need some kind of tracking collar on her so what would you guys recommend for a no-frills, affordable tracking collar. I don't need anything fancy, just something to show me where my dog is. Thanks.

You can call timber creek dog supply in Oxford he carries used tracking system, also you can look on eBay, I would get the dc 30 collar or dc 50 collar by garmin for the hand held unit the 220 will work with the 30 collar if you get a 320 hand held unit it will work with the 30 or the 50 and if you want to spend the $, you can get the alpha unit it crimes with shocking capability

I just got one of the Sportdog Tek 1.0 units, and I have to say I am impressed. It doesn't have mapping like the Garmins, but it is easy to keep up with the dog and it has training capability too. Its cheaper than the newer upgraded ones too.
That said, I have never seen anything made by Garmin that I wouldn't be proud to own, and you can find good used units at really good prices.

The Garmin Astro 320 w/ DC50 collar is the way to go. Order it from http://www.gundogsupply.com they have the best price and are very easy to work with. Very well made and worth the extra money for sure. I love mine.

try gundogsupply. Call and ask about used units. I got the Astro 320 with a DC 40 collar. Works great and only a couple scratches on it

Garmin all the way. The map and the actual track that the dog ran can come in handy. Gun Dog Supply is an excellent company to do business with. They are located in Starkville, MS. I have the DC 40.

GPFerrell has lots of knowledge on the all of the Garmin models. He has been using them for a long time.

After trying a lot, I finally have a way to really track pets in real time. I think this is the most important. PetFon provides you with a precise location, its mobile application is better than any other application, the controller is also very easy to set up, and performs well in operation.

I've owned several different Garmin tracking systems and recommend them highly. Have also had excellent experiences buying from gundogsupply.com.

If you decide to buy a used system, you need to buy from an established retailer, or buy in-person, where you can get your hands on the unit and can inspect and function test everything before you hand over your payment.

There are TONS of online scammers peddling used Garmin systems... they are all over Facebook. I see people getting ripped off daily. The scammers are getting really good at creating convincing profiles, too. Be careful!
