I've got a somewhat crazy idea that I either want to go to central Texas to hunt Rio's or to Western Nebraska to hunt Merriams this year with my recurve.
Oddly, I can't seem to twist any of my friends arm to make a 12 to 20 hour road trip and spend $1500-$2,000 dollars for a couple of plates of fried Turkey nuggets- ![]() If this sounds like something you might want to try this year...please PM me. Otherwise, I may to try to pull this off on my own. |

I actually booked a hunt for Rio's in extreme southeastern Kansas...about a 10.5 hour trip from my home. Kansas has a special archery turkey season that is before the gun season and it looks like I have opening day booked. The outfitter has 34,000 acres and just leased a new ranch in which I will be the first one there to turkey hunt.
This place is just west of the Eastern/Rio dividing line so it should be an interesting hunt. |
