I want to fly fish (from a kayak) small lakes and ponds in south Mississippi but I’m having a hard time finding them. I know about Flint Creek and the pond at the POW camp on Bethal Rd.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Anyone ever dragged a kayak to this pond in Red Creek WMA? |

Been lotta years but there’s lotta opportunities for kayak fishing in the swamps of PascagoulaWMA. At the first big curve after you cross Cumbest bridge going east on road from Vancleave to Wade there’s a nice slough on the right and on the left there’s a ditch that goes north past the power line to Graham’s lake(was private but part of WMA now). You might can drive into GrahamLake nowadays not sure. Or go on east and fish Parker’s Lake at the Hd’qtrs. Before getting there there’s FishLake road turns south to big oxbow, BigLake. I think. Most of the lil lakes in RedCreek were fishless but not sure now....
If this pic works this is in the first lake I mentioned on road to Wade. East PearlRiver in Pearlington has other possibilities. As long as you stay in the river and don’t go into the cuts on the west side you don’t need La. license. Couple of launches to save on paddling. Winter time there specks and reds up to the big curve. Gotta work the wind and tide. Mouth of cuts, irregular features you can find the bass. Have to google map for better detail. ![]() Last edited by 3denduke; 01-10-2021 at 08:14 PM. |

Thanks 3denduke. I hunt squirrels in there and can’t believe I didn’t think of those spots. I’m going to try Parker’s Lake this week.
Thanks deceiverbob. I’m looking at the spots on your link. I pass the lake at Airy all the time. The feds have it closed even before the storm (a lot of trees down in there now) I guess for the COVID Last edited by iflyfish; 01-11-2021 at 12:59 PM. |

last time I was there the grass had taken over the lake. It was bad... I know its not little but flint creek reservoir has some great spot for kayaks. if you are looking for bass the upper Biloxi, upper tchoutacabouffa river, upper fort bayou and upper Davis bayou are great bass spots. some stripped bass too! We fish an 8wt all up and down the river systems just in case. Last edited by Blackdot; 01-11-2021 at 04:50 PM. |

There are a ton of sloughs/oxbows in Ward Bayou and Pascagoula WMA's. Some of them you can drive up to, others are gonna be a little hike. I'd suggest floating Black Creek or Red Creek as well, maybe find someone to go with, park one truck where you put in, and another where you want to take out at.
