Cool man. Sounds like you really want this and your heart pushed you. Alot of guys that are perfectly capable fail this test because they really dont have their heart and mind set right. Like i said before. Im not in the best shape of my life but have passed it several times and not a few. We do it as a pt workout test from time to time. Go into the basic academy class with the attitude that you are there to learn and have fun. Those guys are gonna try and mess with your mind to see if you are cut out for this job. Good luck man.

Good luck man. This is a great career. Make the best of it. Dont get in and lay down. Stay on top of training. Work hard and learn from everyone, even the bad ones. Each person around you is teaching you a lesson whether you know it or not. Make your own opinion of everyone. Stay in shape also. Its no fun climbing stairs caring equipment and to get to the destination only to be tired and cant function long. Let me know how you do.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm 25 yrs old by the way. And yes I want it bad. Have no choice but to pass this test, so stopping or quitting is not an option for me ha.

some running and walking will not get you there. First, it has to be in your mind that you can do it. The biggest thing about CPAT is the stair machine with 75 lbs of weight on you. It is about 1 step per second for 3:20. FInd a gym that has a stair machine and get on it. Get to where you can do it for 10-15 minutes. Run stairs, stadium, etc. no matter how prepaired you are, getting your legs back under you after coming off that stair machine is tough. If you can manage that, you will be ok. Keep a steady pace, not slow but steady. Dont stop to take a breath at each event or you will NOT pass. I am 37 years old, didnt work out consistantly until this year and dont lift weights, I just run 2 miles a shift. I have taken it twice this year. 1st time I done it in 10:30 which is failing, second time, I done it in 9:10. Its just a matter of how much you want it. I dont know your age so that makes a difference sometimes. This test will make you work.
